WIAW: Cozy, sick-day eats

Standard

I’m excited to do my first WIAW post of 2013! A big thanks to Jenn over at Peas & Crayons for hosting this weekly foodie fun fest — head over to the What I Ate Wednesday page to see what it’s all about.

Today’s eats came from last Friday. I was battling a cold, hence all of the soup, vitamin C, and carby goodness. Am I the only one that craves carbs when I’m sick?! That’s normally all I want, but I did manage to get a few greens in for the day…

WIAW1.2_breakfastI started off the day with a bowl of steel cut oats, unsweetened vanilla almond milk, ground flax seed, and peanut butter with some home-brewed Starbucks on the side, of course.

WIAW 1.2_snack1My morning snack was two clementines — I was doing my best to get that Vitamin C in!

WIAW1.2_lunchLunch featured a (overflowing!) bowl of vegetable crab soup and some baby carrots.

WIAW1.2_snack2As soon as I got home from work, I changed into some cozy sweats and enjoyed a bowl of vanilla Chobani with half of a chopped apple, puffed wheat, oats, and some almond butter. Mmmm! (Warning: The rest of these pictures are all taken on my couch…I don’t think I moved all night except to make something to eat. Darn cold!)

WIAW1.2_dinnerDinner consisted of some celery with almond butter (my only green food for the day — yikes!) and an egg white sandwich with some reduced-fat cheddar cheese on a whole wheat bagel. On the side…

WIAW1_apple…I enjoyed the other half of my chopped apple with a few shakes of cinnamon and a drizzle of Maple Agave syrup.

WIAW1_CerealI ended the night with a bowl of corn & wheat Chex with skim milk.

And, let’s be honest, we have a lot of Christmas candy in the house, so I enjoyed a few of these babies throughout the day!
